You definatally need to get DoomMaster's opinion on this. He has a sort of uncanny matchmaking ability for finding the right metal music for people. What are your current favorite genres and/or artists? By instrumental do you mean the lack of vocals or the presence of non-metal instruments? Do you like clear or harsh (growling) vocals? Encyclopedia Metallum is also really helpful in finding similar artists.

I don't listen to much death/black/slightly-darkish-gray metal.
What little I do listen to falls in the melodic death/black metal area. I figure you guys could expand my metal palette.
I more commonly listen to more 80s glam/metal/rock stuff.
By instrumental, I mean lacking vocals.
As far as vocals... I feel like the growling vocals in most cases, ruin the entirety of the song rather than add anything musically. Despite that, I can deal with it, either case will work. Obviously a lack of vocals entirely is preferred.
I listen to Dethklok mostly (as far as black/death metal goes). Guess I'm looking for something along the lines of the first Dethalbum, in terms of musical style, but instrumental.
Anything is fine, as long as it doesn't sound like a bunch of apes got a hold of an Ibanez and a microphone...

Wintersun - Wintersun, is a great general suggestion; since most of the guys I know that listen to metal seem to like it. Persuader - Evolution Puragatory & When Eden Burns, both have a 80s feel to them. They're not incredibly skilled but sound very catchy. Works by Dream Theater sound kinda like a metal version of Rush. Fleshgod Apocalypse
I don't have any recommendations for things that sound like Deathklok since they are kinda intended to be a generic version of music I don't listen to much of. Also can't think of anything that's purely instrumental off the top of my head, but there's a few really good ones.
I'll be sure to bring some music for us to listen to on the roadtrip to TCP. Maybe I can get DoomMaster to give some recommendations before then.

I was actually listening to some Wintersun during work today, from your 'What are you listening to' thread.
Its not bad, I will say.
I know what I'm asking for is 'coffee, and try to keep the coffee out of it'. There were a few instrumental songs I've heard you guys listen to that were excellent. I don't know names, however so...
